Additional information:
Called to the scene of a structure fire at a residence, caller reported flames showing with someone at the back of the house calling for help.  The occupant had exited the rear of the house but was unable to get down from the second story deck.  Neighbors assisted the occupant down from the deck prior to the arrival of the first fire units.  The occupant was alone in the structure, uninjured and refused medical treatment.  Upon Engine 1’s arrival heavy smoke and flame was visible from the front and both sides of the structure.  Crews utilized two 1¾” attack lines to bring the fire under control.  A hydrant was connected for water supply.  Kansas City Fire Department assisted Raytown Fire with cutting a hole in the roof and completing overhaul.

Two adult dogs escaped the structure but several puppies did not survive.

After the investigation was completed the structure was turned over to the occupants.
