PIO Assigned: Matt Mace 816-737-6034
Date: 5/27/12
If you were out around Raytown on Sunday afternoon you may have seen a bright pink fire truck followed by Raytown Engine 2 on Raytown Road.  No the Raytown Fire Protection District is not changing the color of its fleet; this truck is part of the KC chapter of the Guardians of the Ribbon.  The Guardians of the Ribbon is a not for profit organization raising awareness and supporting those battling cancer.
On Sunday the Pink Fire Truck and Raytown Engine 2 were visiting Gracie, a little girl who has been battling a brain tumor for the past three years at St Jude’s Hospital in Memphis. Sunday was Gracie’s 5th birthday party, and the Pink Fire Truck presented her with a pink rose, a pink fire t-shirt, and a large pink bear.
